Fake Followers and How They are Destroying Marketing

02 February, 2021

When you venture onto any of the social media platforms and check out how many people are following different individuals or companies, you would think that everybody was popular. However, what you are seeing with your own eyes may not be as true or as accurate as you initially thought.

There is a huge market out there on the Internet that deals with fake followers, and while some companies or individuals feel that this is a great thing, it makes life difficult for those that are involved in marketing.

The problem is that these fake followers creates nothing more than a false picture of what is really going on. People that are then planning on using these marketers are being sold a false promise, and that has the impact of even stopping them from marketing themselves online because they do not get the returns that they were led to believe would happen.

But just how big is this problem? We said that it is a huge market, but it is only when you examine the estimated figures that you see that we have underestimated the entire thing. When you read that it is believed that there are over 80 million fake accounts on Facebook and over 20 million accounts of Twitter that have been created for this very purpose, then it should make you stop and think.

Also, just spend a moment working out how this is all going to work in your mind. How easy do you think it is to quickly obtain thousands of new followers in just a few hours if they were all going to be genuine? The answer to that is it is impossible to do, unless something else is going on behind the scenes.

So, if the problem is so big, then how can you avoid running into these difficulties? Well, it is actually easier than you think.

First, you just need to use your common sense. If someone is offering you thousands of followers who will then boost your presence and they are charging you some crazy low sum, then they are not going to be real people. You just don’t get people doing this kind of thing out of the goodness of their own heart.

Also, you can look at followers if you are planning on using influencer marketing where you ask them to post something about whatever you are doing to their followers. Look at who they have on their list. Do they have strange names, the egg logo, and basically no tweets? If so, then there is a very good chance that they have been created by a bot and are only there to effectively con people out of their money with no return.

Of course, the best way to avoid running into this problem is to avoid the entire concept of influencer marketing completely. Also, seek advice from marketing experts on how to boost your social media presence and to do so naturally because any other way is often going to be fraught with difficulties and challenges.

There are so many good marketing companies out there that can take your social media presence to a whole new level, and they do so via white hat methods that have been shown to get results for other people. They don’t need to cheat or con people to get results, and the best part is that you will have real people taking notice of you. These real people can actually do something in connection to whatever you are promoting as opposed to bots that just sit there stagnant.

Now, when you think about it all, what is going to be the best thing for you to spend your money on? The answer should in itself be pretty obvious because surely you would want to have the marketing plan that puts you in front of real people, and not those that have been artificially created?

With so much competition out there, it makes so much sense for you to go ahead and spend the time making sure that you get things correct from the very beginning. Your online presence is going to potentially suffer if you fail to do this, and nobody wants that to happen. If something appears to be too good to be true, then it usually is. Always get correct advice, and see the difference it makes.
